ITAM Value Analysis

Our unique ITAM Value Analysis allows clients to identify those areas of IT Asset Management which are capable of producing tangible ROI.  Conversely, the Value Analysis often sheds light on ITAM areas which had previously been anticipated as high value, or designated as required, but in fact produce very low value.  No matter what vendor you choose for your ITAM system, a Value Analysis can make the difference between success and failure.  

Veriam performs a Value Analysis as a foundation step in both our Software License Management and IT Asset Management services.  Having experienced the value of this exercise, we will not commit to such an effort without it.

Customers utilzing a different ITAM or SLM program can still get the benefit of the value analysis by applying the results to their program planning.  Regardless of the target ITAM program, all customers will reap huge gains by focusing their program on those elements where the primary ROI can be derived.  There is no larger reason for ITAM program failure than skipping this critical step.

ITAM Planning

Proper planning for an ITAM implementation is absolutely the most critical step in the process.  Veriam believes that selecting and purchasing an ITAM tool prior to executing a rigorous planning phase is one of the greatest reasons that ITAM implementations often produce disappointing results or outright fail.   

Based upon more than 25 years experience in the industry, Veriam has developed a comprehensive ITAM planning methodology that helps customers define their program goals, develop effective ITAM processes, analyze system requirements, and select an appropriate tool.

Veriam can participate in the planning process at a variety of levels from guidance and oversight to actually performing the entire planning phase.

ITAM Implementation

Continuing from the planning phase, Veriam can manage the implementation of the ITAM system, or take responsibility for many of the implementation steps.  Our ITAM project management staff will keep the program on track and identify potential trouble spots before they occur.  Our innovative ITAM Marketing Communications (MarCom) plan will communicate the program goals to predefined target groups in a highly effective manner that will build and maintain program participation at all levels of the organization.

The result is an ITAM program that is efficient, effective, manageable, and poised for success.

ITAM Program Restart

Unfortunately, many ITAM programs produce disappointing results or fail completely within just a couple of years.  There are a variety of reasons for this (see our whitepapers for more discussion on these critical issues), but the end result is an organization that is both frustrated and disillusioned with IT Asset Management in general, and one that has urgent requirements that are not being satisfied.  In these situations, it is very common to blame the tool vendor, select a new tool, and go down a similar path that frequently leads to the same result.

However, a completely new ITAM project and tool replacement is often not required to identify and correct the issues with a poorly functioning program.  Often times an existing ITAM program can simply be re-purposed, using Veriam’s ITAM Value Analysis to identify true ROI value points, thereby protecting any investment that has currently be made.  An experienced, fresh look combined with process and technology analysis can identify less drastic measures that can be taken to get the ITAM program back on track.  Veriam’s extensive industry experience and focus on value production can be the extra ingredient needed to identify and correct the program issues and to develop corrective measures that can turn a failing program into a highly successful one.
